FRAG OUT Career Transition Program: A 16-Week Military-to-Civilian Career Accelerator
COHORT 1 STARTING 11 JAN 2027
Your military career had a mission, a plan, a team, and resources behind it. Your transition should too.
The FRAG OUT Career Transition Program is an intensive 16-week program designed for transitioning and retiring military professionals who want more than another transition checklist, resume workshop, or collection of online videos.
This is a guided transition experience that combines individual coaching, professional development, a recognized project management certification, career preparation, networking, accountability, and continued alumni support.
For 16 weeks, participants work directly to build the skills, credentials, positioning, and network necessary to compete (and win) in the civilian workforce.
And when the 16 weeks are over, the relationship doesn’t end.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
16 Weeks of Individual Coaching: Each participant receives a private 120-minute coaching session each week throughout the 16-week cohort.
That’s 32 hours of dedicated 1:1 coaching focused specifically on you, your goals, your challenges, and your transition.
Sessions will address: Career direction and target roles, translating military experience, Resume development, LinkedIn optimization, Networking strategy, Interview preparation, Salary and compensation, Job-search strategy, Personal branding, Project management development, Certification preparation, Leadership development, Productivity and organization, Financial transition considerations, Offer evaluation, First-90-days planning
There isn’t a generic coaching script. The coaching follows the individual.
MONTHLY GROUP COACHING
Participants also join four 120-minute cohort coaching sessions during the program. These sessions bring the cohort together to learn, share experiences, build relationships, troubleshoot challenges, and expand their professional networks.
Sessions will include: Group coaching, Q&A, Participant hot seats (‘murder boards’), Career discussions, Networking, Guest speakers, Hiring professionals, Veteran leaders, DOL Coach alumni
The cohort becomes part classroom, part mastermind, and part professional network.
COMPLETE DOL COACH TRAINING ACCESS
Participants receive access to the DOL Coach professional development ecosystem throughout the program.
Idea to Outcome (ITO) Course
Full access to the ITO Course, providing practical project management training from the initial idea through planning, execution, delivery, and realization of outcomes.
Participants learn how projects actually work, not simply terminology designed to help someone pass an exam.
Projects To Programs (PTP) Course
Participants receive the Projects to Programs course, helping experienced military leaders understand the progression from managing individual projects to coordinating larger programs, strategic initiatives, and organizational outcomes.
This is particularly valuable for senior NCOs, officers, warrant officers, and others pursuing program management, operations, consulting, or senior leadership positions.
All DOL Coach Deep Dives and Masterclasses
Participants receive lifetime access to the full library of DOL Coach Deep Dive and Masterclass programs, including training in areas such as:
RSPE Productivity
T-SCORE Risk Management
Change Management
Stakeholder Engagement
Project Leadership
Project Planning
Project Communication
And additional Deep Dives added during their participation
These programs allow participants to develop specific professional capabilities beyond the fundamentals.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION INCLUDED
Certification isn’t an add-on. It’s part of the mission. During the cohort, participants prepare for and complete the Project Management Assessment and Certification process.
Rather than relying solely on rote memorization and an examination, the certification process considers three critical elements: Knowledge. Experience. Skills.
Participants have an opportunity to demonstrate what they know, discuss what they have actually done, and articulate how they have applied project management principles in real-world environments.
During Phase III, participants complete their certification assessment and receive the highest level of project management certification for which they are eligible.
Certification levels may include:
Certified Project Officer (CPO)
Certified Project Professional (CPP)
Certified Project Master (CPM)
Certified Project Director (CPD)
Certification issuance is included in the cohort. The goal isn’t simply to add letters after someone’s name. It’s to help participants understand how to communicate the project, program, leadership, and operational experience they already possess in terminology civilian organizations understand.
THE 16-WEEK FRAG OUT TRANSITION COHORT
The FRAG OUT Transition Cohort is built around four progressive phases. Each phase lasts approximately four weeks and builds on the work completed before it.
The objective isn’t simply to spend 16 weeks learning about transition. The objective is to finish the program with a clear career direction, stronger professional capabilities, recognized credentials, an active network, and a deliberate plan for what comes next.
THE FOUR-PHASE TRANSITION
PHASE I: RESET AND ESTABLISH CLARITY
Weeks 1–4: Determine where you’re going.
PHASE II: BUILD CAPABILITY
Weeks 5–8: Build what you need to compete.
PHASE III: POSITION + CERTIFY = CREDIBILITY
Weeks 9–12: Translate your experience, build your network, and validate your capabilities.
PHASE IV: EXECUTE WITH MOMENTUM
Weeks 13–16: Take your capabilities, credentials, and network into the market and turn them into opportunities.
After 16 weeks, participants don’t simply leave with a certificate of completion. They leave with:
Direction. A clearly defined civilian career strategy.
Positioning. A professional resume, LinkedIn presence, career narrative, and personal value proposition.
Capability. Professional development through ITO, Projects to Programs, DOL Coach Masterclasses, Deep Dives, and individualized coaching.
Credentials. Project management certification at the highest level for which they are eligible.
A Network. Relationships built with cohort members, alumni, professionals, recruiters, employers, and the broader DOL Coach network.
Experience Communicating Their Value. The ability to explain what they did in the military in language civilian employers understand.
An Execution Plan. A deliberate strategy for pursuing opportunities, interviewing, negotiating, evaluating offers, and beginning their civilian career.
Continued Support. Access to the FRAG OUT Alumni Network and the growing community of professionals who have completed the program.
The 16 weeks aren’t the destination.
They’re the preparation for everything that comes next.
RESET → BUILD → POSITION + CERTIFY → EXECUTE
16 Weeks. Four Phases. One Mission: Build What Comes Next.
